Tsunami: The Killer Wave

We feel tired by working continuously, how long she can work continuously. Whenever she feels tired she just relaxes herself and relaxes her muscles too. She is none other than our earth. When she relaxes her muscles slightly we face some devastating situations. One such terrible effect is Tsunami.

What is Tsunami?

Tsunamis are impulsively generated sea waves by a disturbance at or near the ocean. Earthquakes, submarine volcanic explosions, landslides and the detonation of nuclear devices near the sea can give rise to such destructive sea waves. By far the most destructive tsunamis are generated from large shallow-focus earthquakes with an epicenter or fault line near or in the ocean

Why have to fear about this killer wave?
It is horrible that this wave causes so much damage to the human life. Yes this wave is really terrible and makes the living across the coastal regions hard.

Why a country like India does does not have alert systems?

If this is the case then why a peninsular country likes India didn't have a Tsunami warning system or an alert system. I think that Tsunami has informed our nation that you don’t need an alert system and I will never attack your nation.

Is that cost relatively higher? We are going to be a developed nation by 2020. Are we going to make a nation developed without providing the basic amenities like protection from natural calamities? Poor Tsunami does not know that India is a developing country and most of the people living here are below the poverty line.

If it had known the pitiable situation of India it would have not struck on December 26.

Perspective View from the ruling power:

The central and the state government had said that they did not know of the Tsunami so that they could not save lives. All of them have defended the lack of a tsunami warning system by insisting that, unlike the Pacific, the Indian Ocean has not experienced frequent tsunamis. Every one is trying to defend them and not the nation.

The hollow character of these justifications was brought into sharp focus by the events in the small coastal village of Nallavadu in Pondicherry. A timely telephone call, warning about the impending tsunami, saved the village’s entire 3,600 inhabitants, as well as those of three neighboring villages.

Nallavadu was involved in the M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation’s Information Village Research Project. Vijayakumar, a former project volunteer, was working in Singapore and heard a tsunami alert issued there. He immediately phoned the research centre in the village, which issued an alert. His quick thinking, followed by swift and coordinated action, led to the evacuation of the four villages before the tsunami hit the coast.

If a single person like Vijayakumar can save thousands of people and nearly four villages then what can be done by each and every one of us. Remember collective efforts reap more benefits than individual.

Flurry of Questions from every individual:

If they know that they need a warning system then why they didn't have any arrangements. Are they were little careless. What were our research people and scientist were doing. Do they know it? If they had known it why haven't they insisted the government to set up such network or alert systems? If they had insisted then why the government did did not take any actions.

A flurry of questions raises from each and every one us. When we see the pictures and the after wave effects unknowingly tears flow from each and everyone's soul not from their eyes.

There is no denying that tsunamis are less frequent in the Indian Ocean. The lack of a tsunami warning system, which involves relatively modest costs, has led to the loss of tens of thousands of lives and suffering to millions.

Preparedness and Planning:

There is very little that can be done to prevent the occurrence of natural hazards. But while these natural disasters cannot be prevented, their results, such as loss of life and property, can be reduced by proper planning. Early warning is only one part of disaster risk management, disaster preparedness, vulnerability reduction and post-disaster relief and reconstruction.

If anything goes beyond a limit then it leads to disaster. Similarly over warning, based on inadequate data on which to base the prediction, often leads to false alarms and lack of compliance with warning and evacuation attempts. Such false alarms result in a loss of faith in the capability of a warning system and result in reluctance to take action in subsequent tsunami events.

Minimize the false alarms:

What the system can't do is minimize the many false alarms that come with sizeable earthquakes on the seabed that do not trigger a big tsunami or even cause damage on land. That's crucial because emergency coordinators must know when to sound the alarm that will set in motion costly mass evacuation plans.

Girl’s sea warning saved a hundred:

People living in the coastal regions should be trained how to protect their lives when a wave like this is going to struck. Students should be trained as to how to protect themselves against the different natural calamities. This can be done by making this as a compulsory learning in their schools and colleges.

Remember how this is useful. Here is an instance which shows this importance.
A girl aged ten saved a hundred fellow tourists from the tsunami because of a geography lesson about the giant waves. Tilly Smith urged her family to get off Maikhao beach in Thailand after seeing the tide rush out and boats on the horizon begin to bob violently.

This was enough of a booster dose, that would open up all our eyes and set platform for developing state of the art and modern warning systems and networking facilities so that in future, we don’t let loose one front while we are strong on the other. We predicted it, we sensed it, and we measured it, but could not save millions of people, when it occurred. An hour could have saved a lot. Information was residing in the minds of few; it should have reached everyone.

What we try to do, the steps that we take today will help our future generations. We sow the seed, we can't expect the plant to reap all the fruits to us, may be the forthcoming generations will eat the fruit. Learning a lot from this, we are now investing money towards setting up big warning network systems and gauges along the coasts for tsunami warnings which in future will secure us all from such ominous scale natural disasters.

Time to invest confidence on Indian Captain

A name which once ruled the cricketing world, now under criticism:

Sourav Chandi Ganguly the most familiar name in the shorter version of cricket. After leading his nation to the world cup final and a remarkable overseas performance in Australia and Pakistan this player has been under enormous pressure due to his poor batting form. Its been ridiculous that there were ads and mobile sms mocking this great personality.

Ganguly before the world cup:

Five years ago cricket masters advised their students to adapt and follow the technique of this cricketing hero. There were times when the bowlers feared to bowl a ball to this man. The prince of calcutta ruled the offside field. He was famous purely because of his perfection in timing and elegance in style.

You can place all the eleven men in the offside, but this master finds the gap still. Only few players in the world cricket has this unique gift. You could hardly see the ball moving when it has been hit by his bat, Once the ball is delivered by the bowler in flashes of seconds it would have been dispatched to the fence.

Remember he is one among the four batsmen in world cricket to gone pass the 10,000 run mark and his average in one day cricket is more than 40.A batsmen who does not have class in his technique will not be able to pass the 10,000 run mark.

In an era dominated by Sachin it is not possible to expose his talents, but this sporting hero has done it.When he and Sachin opened the innings the opposition used to pray to get any of these two heroes. This pair had crossed the 100 run partnership more than fifteen times the most in the shorter version of the game.

Only few players in world cricket have been gifted with natural talent of playing spinners extraordinarily well and this master is one among them.Once this man comes down the pitch against a spinner then it is better to have the fielders outside the stadium atleast you can save the ball.In Sharjah cricket stadium one of the roofs was named as Ganguly roof since he hit more sixes on the same roof.He is one of the top five contenders for hitting most number of sixes.

Current scenario:

Every man has a lean patch. We can't expect 100% performance everytime since he is not a castrol engine oil.He has played for his country and raised his nations flag high.It is not worthful finding the negatives and criticising the poor forms. The media and the nation should support the players when they are in poor form.
Even the great Bradman could not finish with 100 run average.

Ganguly has done lot as a captain. He is the most succesful captain the nation has ever seen. He used to utilize the men and the matters efficiently. He used to have confidence and continously motivate the youngsters. The great fielders of Indian team Yuvraj and Kaif are the findings of this man.

This man used to find the talents and nurture it well. He used to invoke faith among the youngsters. The most sucessful captain has once again regained the captaincy. The new coach should give helping hands to this hero to lead India to win its second world cup title.

The problem is critics are there in everything and they don't want to spare anything. There were many critics who say that most of the centuries for this man were against the weaker nations. For instance consider the worldcup match against the kenya. It is a weaker nation but not the weakest. All the great guns did not fire on the day when it mattered but this cannon ran through that day, if this man had not earned a century against his name India would not have reached the world cup finals.

Poor Indians always find the negatives in a player. We can't find fault on the Indian people since cricket is their religion and Sachins , Gangulys and Dravids are their Gods.

Have the attitude of a mother, if a child does not perform well in his exams she does not scold her child, instead she used to advise and motivate her child.

The same should be done with Ganguly, he has done a lot to his nation, now he is in a lean patch, the thing he needs is some motivation and encouragement from his team mates and the nation.

There is still talent left behind this guy. We pray for this man to regain his form and come with all ends blazing.

Warne The Greatest Leggie of All Times

Marcus Trescothick's name would be in the history of the cricket not of his personal performance but because of Shane Warne's. On 11th August 2005 Warne became the first bowler in the history to reach the 600 wickets mark. Remember Marcus Trescothick's name was already in the history since he was the 500th victim of Glen McGrath.

It was in this same ground where Shane Warne made his first appearance in international test cricket arena.Just in a period of twelve years he became the first to reach 600 wickets mark. In his first match his first victim was Mike Gatting. Warne bamboozled Gatting with his vicious leg break. The ball which was pitched on legstump came in viciously to clip the biles of the off stump. It was named as the ball of the century. Since then warne was a nightmare to batsmen. He is still going and more importantly still growing.

But to be an Indian is proud when the leg spin maestro says that his nightmare is Sachin Tendulkar. For every batsmen in the world Warne is nightmare but to that nightmare there is an Indian who terrifies him with his explosive batting and fine technique. Warne has said in an interview that Sachin would daunt in his dreams by coming down the pitch and hitting the ball to the fence. Remember here is an Indian who haunts the dreams of the bowlers with his master piece perfection in batting.

My Love

My sweet heart I need to be in U
and with U all the time
Since,
I want to make you happy each second you spend
I want to give you all you need
Because you give me everything I need.
I want to hold on to every smile that seeps from your lips
I want to soak up every tear you cry
I just want to be yours forever.

Call Me If you can
Since I have not heard your voice for ages
Finally I want to hear that you are mine

There is no such thing as failure. There are only outcomes. The only time you fail is the last time you try.
